I’m surprised by how much I loved this book.
When I read the description I thought it would be a fun read but I fell in love with Amanda, her friends and her children. Amanda, Ali and Jacqui have terrible exes but I enjoyed the way the author refocused on the ways they try and struggle to turn their lives around. There was something inherently charming and satisfying about how imperfect everyone is within the story. The visceral quality of the story was perfectly punctuated by humor. As real as Amanda’s broken up marriage and struggle as a single mother feel it was rare that the story felt bleak even at its most heart wrenching. I loved this book, recommend it highly and can’t wait to read more from Janet Hoggarth!
